Trapped A girl A monster A hero The Invincibles Book 1 eBook Brittany Oldroyd Reviews
I picked this up using the kindle unlimited and found the story to be ok. It kind of follows a story that as two large secret organizations fighting each other. I would have expected the "good guy's" side to have contacted the hero at some point and time in the story but it never really happened. Over all not a bad book but not something I would rush out and buy as I had to have it. Very few spelling errors and the writing did seem to flow well.
This is a fairly good action/superhero young adult novel. Oldroyd develops her characters enough so that it's pretty easy to relate with even some of the more minor characters, although some of their reactions to different circumstances seemed somewhat cliche. There are enough mysteries and plot twists to keep the reader engaged till the end. (As a side note, Alec, the main character's childhood friend, was probably my favorite character. The mother was interesting and dynamic as well.)
I found short and fragmented sentences that made up the novel to be distracting. Sometimes it really helped to set the mood of the characters, but other times it seemed unnecessary (but this could also be because I've gotten used to the language of novels written in the 1800's).
All in all, it was a good start to a new series.
I really enjoyed this book! I had the opportunity to pre-read it, and liked it so much that I also bought it. It was an interesting and exciting read from the beginning, with a touch of romance. I was never bored....never felt that I had to force myself through it. I enjoyed the characters (especially "Kat") and the writing style. I am so impressed by how much this young author's writing has grown and developed! I very much appreciate a "clean" read, and there is nothing in the book that I would feel uncomfortable having my teenage daughters read. I definitely recommend this book!
Best book ever!!!!!!!! Keeps you interested, you never know what is going to happen next. Unique twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. I am 15 and would recomend to other teanage girls and boys.
