I think that's the saying. I started to read this book twice before I finished it. Starting the story at the end was not appealing to me, so I stopped twice. This third time I just plowed through it hoping there would be a better story on the other side. I discovered in an unremarkable story the wonderful character Cordelia. Indentured to pay off her father's debt she is given this one and only season to secure a marriage. While hiding behind the potted plants she becomes part of a bet between two of the most sought after bachelors of the ton. From there the story takes on some Pygmalion qualities as the brothers use their influence to improve Cordelia's popularity. Underneath the ugly dress and behind the potted plants is the charming and beautiful Cordelia--- adored by both brothers, but loved by one.Product details

Waltzing with the Wallflower edition by Leah Sanders Rachel Van Dyken Romance eBooks Reviews
Great Story. Too Short, so, therefore, we need a sequel to marry off Anthony and Wilde both. I love the premise of the twins, being so much in favor with the "ton", that they could each year change the fate of one Lucky lady they favored.
It was a wonderfully rendered account of the way things were in the times of the Regency Romance settings. A young, beautiful lady falls out of favor because her family falls into ruin. She is sent into indentured serviatude to repay the debt, ere go, she is unworthy. What a cockeyed society that was, huh. Instead of being heralded a heroine she is a pariah.
So glad we no longer have such a society. But, I do love reading about the Lord and Ladies and all their escapades.
Enjoyed and would highly recommend.
As a big fan of regency romances in the Amanda Quick and Julia Quinn ilk, I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the novellas now out there on the store, but with the hits there are also some misses and this one is both a hit and a miss.
The story itself is charming, I think the characters are relatively well drawn, though I think the brothers particularly are a bit of a stereotype and the heroine could use a little more consistency in the fleshing out. But overall the story and the plot was entertaining and enjoyable.
BUT...the author was trying way too hard with the language, trying to make it sound "period" and it was a huge fail. Words were used repetitively (in one chapter alone, one page Anthony referred to Ambrose twice as ", brother," and in another section Ambrose used the word "chit" twice within a page or two). It's a crutch and the falseness of the language I found pretty jarring and it pulled me out of the story. I enjoyed reading it, but it was just kind of "eh."
I started reading the sequel and so far the language is much more relaxed, so it might be a beginner's error. It's still a charming read for $0.99 but I do think there are some better written novellas out there....
Super cute tale with super character's, fell in love with Ambrose and Cordelia, along with Anthony and Wilde. Although I like my stories a bit more racy, this one was so well spun and did have chemistry between the H/h that in the end it did not matter, it was well worth the read and left a smile on my face!
A lovely, hilarious Regency Short. It really is too bad this is a short story. This one would have made an excellent full-length novel. The 4 main characters are delicious. I especially liked Anthony. Ambrose was lovely as well but Anthony's wit captured my interest. A pity it wasn't longer.
Love how the main man falls in the love with the girl for her personality AND looks! Worth every penny!
It had such potential, but it fell flat, I think due to the shortness of it (9 chapters). The love didn't ring true after such a short time. It ended well though.
This book as a novella was too short. It was well written with wonderful characters I would have liked to have learned more about. A novel length book would have made it even better giving more insight into the personalities and backgrounds of the characters. However, it was written well enough you still liked and cared about the characters. The ending gave possibility of another book for Anthony and I hope there is one and that the author would consider doing a novel rather than a novella.
